Surprisingly, "the Showdown in Chinatown" features pro athletes playing soccer rather than ninjas doing ninja stuff

While reading ESPN's True Hoop I found out that ESPN's Marc Stein revealed that Phoenix Suns point guard and uber-white guy Steve Nash is hosting and playing in a pick-up soccer game tonight on the Lower East Side. The game is being called "the showdown in Chinatown." And, your favorite French player and mine Thierry Henry will be playing as well.
If I would have known that Henry was scheduled to attend this event on this day then I surely wouldn't have bet all those euros on the French national team to be playing in this afternoon's Euro 08 semi-finals. Clearly, Henry knew something we didn't know.

Either way, the game is supposedly free to attend and will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Nike Field in Sara D. Roosevelt Park. The field is just off Chrystie Street (between Rivington and Stanton Streets) south of Houston.

Baron Davis, Jason Kidd, Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa and Joakim Noah are supposed to be representing the NBA while Claudio Reyna, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Jozy Altidore, Juan Pablo Angel, and Gregg Berhalter will be there on behalf of US (and NY Red Bulls) soccer.

This game is being put on by Nash's foundation.

And, you'd have to think that Nash's former coach and current Knicks head man Mike D'Antoni might drop by...
